ABOUT THE MINNESOTA DANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Minnesota Dance Film Festival is an annual event that celebrates and promotes the genre of dance film. "Dance on screen, or 'screendance,' is a unique cinematic experience that focuses on the intersection of cinematography and choreography." Cinema Revolution Society is one of the handful of organizations in the United States that present dance-inspired cinema and is dedicated to fostering and promoting the vibrant art of dance film. CRS has previously showcased the talents of over 100 local artists presenting a range of performance aesthetics from contemporary to classical and alternative dance films. The public forum offered by the Minnesota Dance Film Festival interconnects diverse populations and brings audiences in through the unique cinematic experience of dance film.

Minnesota Dance Film Festival Provides:
• film premieres of local artists work in a festival format
• open forums and discussions on dance film theory and history
• curated documentary screenings of internationally recognized artists
• audience interaction with local artists and their work through pre-screening discussions

Artist Commission Fund
Support local artists in the creation of a new dance for the camera. Each year the Artist Commissioning Program will support 4 projects through an application and panel review process. Chosen projects will be shown at a gala screening during the Minnesota Dance Film Festival. Full commissions will be presented in honor of your name or a person of your choosing.

Visiting Artist and Workshop Fund
Support a program that will bring in known and respected artists in the field of "screendance" to conduct workshops and participate in lecture/demonstrations and panel discussions. This fund also supports our education programs by helping to make workshops affordable for our participants through scholarships.
